Periodontal Care

Meaning ‘around the tooth’, Periodontal disease is a form of gum disease that can result in the loosening of your teeth. Gum disease is caused by a build-up of bacteria from plaque. People of any age may be susceptible to gum disease and periodontal treatment assists in halting its progression.

Periodontal care begins at home with regular cleaning and flossing. Brushing only eliminates the plaque from the tooth surface, so flossing is essential for completely removing plaque hiding between teeth and under the gum line.

We will remove plaque and tartar from above and below the gum line of your teeth during a dental assessment. At this point, we may recognise signs of gingivitis, which is the early stage of periodonitis, and recommend treatment.

Should we have any concerns about the potential for bone loss or notice your gums have receded from your teeth, a plan for restoration treatment will be established in consultation with you.

If you have any questions or concerns make sure to contact The Kingsway Family Dental Team as your dentist in Wentworthville.
